BHS will again be part of this festive local tradition. We will again sell ice cream, pies, maple candy and water at the event. A parade is in the works. The fire department will be again serving burgers and hotdogs, and fireworks are planned, of course.

BHS will host our annual Sugar on Snow party at our building from 1-3 pm. Local favorite band Rusty Bucket will entertain everyone again with their lively, danceable music. Enjoy local maple sugar on local snow, fresh coffee, VT cider, fresh local donuts and of course, pickles. Come share this Vermont tradition with someone new! Cost; by Donation at the door. All proceeds benefit the Bakersfield Historic Society, an all volunteer, and 501(c)3 non profit organization.
Please let us know if you need an accommodation in order to participate! Our building has an accessible berm ramp to the entrance and accessible bathroom.
* DATE CHANGE!* BHS will host a Vermont Humanities Council talk by Howard Coffin: 1800 and Froze to Death at our building. 1816 has long been known as the VT year without a summer. Vermonters still call it "1816 and Froze to Death," a year of frosts every month, dark skies and mysterious lights in the sky. In this talk, VT Historian Howard Coffin includes scores of anecdotes on the dark year of failed crops, scarce food, and religious revival. And the origin. Free!

We are hosting this excellent event in our building. Come join the Social hour over coffee and muffins at 9am, their public business meeting at 10am, the Gab-fest at 11am. Stay for the Lunch at 12pm (reservations requested), and 1pm multimedia program on historic local Barns with local experts TBD.
