1800 and Froze to Death > A Talk by Howard Coffin, VT Historian

1pm (NEW!)

* DATE CHANGE!* BHS will host a Vermont Humanities Council talk by Howard Coffin: 1800 and Froze to Death at our building. 1816 has long been known as the VT year without a summer. Vermonters still call it "1800 and Froze to Death," a year of frosts every month, dark skies and mysterious lights in the sky. In this talk, VT Historian Howard Coffin includes scores of anecdotes on the dark year of failed crops, scarce food, and religious revival. And the origin. Free.  Donations are welcome.
